Our sweet Shelbs is a high school grad! We couldn’t be more proud and excited for her to be at Ole Miss this fall! To celebrate her success we wanted to throw her the most fabulous graduation party and here is how we did it:
The first step in planning an event is to pick a theme. Shelbey said that she wanted pink and that was the only guidance she gave us. So we took that and ran with it. We used lighter shades of pink and threw in a few more pastel colors such as yellow, purple, and blue. We added in flowers here and there but really stuck with the “pink” theme. When picking a theme it can sometimes be vague such as “pink and flowers” this gives the planner a little more creative leeway.
Once we picked the theme we started planning the decor. For this we wanted to keep it more simple and started to add elements of garden party in since it was indoor/outdoor. For the tables we used simple white covers with light pink silk runners and topped each one off with a simple but elegant floral arrangement. The party would not have been complete without a balloon arch which we placed in front of the photo booth backdrop. The photo backdrop was handmade (which we sell in our store) and added a touch of fun but still kept it classy. When planning an event small details matter whether we realize it or not which is why we had Ole Miss cookies made but in pink and white to match the theme. We also had cupcake toppers all in the shade of pink Shelbey picked for her party.
A graduation party would not be complete without a college table. We are so excited that Shelbey will be attending Ole Miss which is why we wanted to show off some of our school spirit. On the table we placed an Ole Miss flag and topped it off with one of Shelbey’s senior photos beautifully framed and fun little decor elements we found at Olive Juice Gifts in Oxford, Mississippi. Some of these included an Ole Miss dish towel, a colonel reb painting and of course, two champagne bottles with custom “Party in the Sip” labels. On the sides we had two balloon stands in Ole Miss colors. Some other fun elements were pom poms that I saved from football games and confetti of course!
Keeping guest entertained is a must! To do this we had a fun mini cocktail run by our dad who loves to entertain. We also had the photo booth which is was put on by MoPhotosMoFun and guests were able to use the Photo Booth as they pleased and it offered fun elements such as GIFS and had a personalized border on the phots with Shelbey’s Grad party information. At the card table we had a Bible with pens and highlighters next to it. We asked guests to highlight their favorite Bible verse to create a sentimental keepsake for the grad. The most important entertainment element in my opinion was the bouncy house. We made sure it was pink and purple of course to match the theme. We implemented this element to keep the little ones entertained and outside of our house, it also proved to be a lot of fun for the adults as well!
Food is important at any event, for this specific event we catered Rudy’s BBQ and had a food tablet inside for guests to eat at their leisure. We also had custom sugar cookies that were graduation and Ole Miss themed. We also offered chocolate cupcakes with light pink frosting. Last but not least we had our dad’s special punch which he refers to as “Craig’s Fun Punch”.
Shelbey’s grad party was a huge success! It was so much fun to plan and we had the best time celebrating her! We are so thankful for all of the family and friends that came to help us celebrate!
