Because today is my 21st birthday (I've been waiting for this day for a while now!!!!) I thought it would be fun to write down 21 reminders that I always try to live by. I wanted to give God the spotlight on my birthday because he’s just so good! I tried to keep each one short and to the point! Without further ado here are 21 reminders:
- Each day with Jesus is better than the last. I'm seriously not kidding! Every day that you wake up is a gift from the Lord because he has a plan for you. There is something good about every day, especially when you are walking with Jesus.
- When God takes away silver he replaces it with gold. Sometimes what we think is the best thing ever, actually isn’t God’s best for us. He would never take away his best from you, so you can rest in the fact that if you lost a relationship, friendship, or job that you may have thought was best for you, God is going to bring you something better.
- Make sure you do things that you love. Yes, we all have responsibilities and tasks that have to get done, but God didn’t create us to be workaholics. He created us with a purpose and wants us to enjoy the life he has given us so make sure you squeeze in just a little bit of time to do something that you love.
- Take care of yourself, like seriously. God gave you a body that can do amazing things and it’s important to take care of it. Nourish your body with good food, take the time to workout, take your vitamins, and have a spa day because it only helps you and makes you feel so good.
- Get up and enjoy the day. As I said earlier, each day is a gift and God wants you to enjoy the life he has blessed you with. So get up and go enjoy the day he has given you and give him glory for that.
- You’re not vain for wanting to look good and dress well. Like I said God gave you a body that you are supposed to care for. There is nothing wrong with wanting to ensure that it looks its best, this isn’t vanity, it's a form of self-respect and care for the body that God gave you. Fashion is a form of expression to showcase the unique personality that God gave you.
- Friendships will come and go, and that’s okay. The dynamics of friendships change sometimes during certain seasons and that’s normal. Just remember to always love the friends you have and love them well.
- Sometimes you’re gonna do things while afraid. If you keep yourself from taking amazing opportunities because you’re scared then you are going to miss out on so many blessings. If you feel called to go somewhere or do something but feel a little bit scared that’s okay but don’t let that feeling of fear stop you.
- Overthinking is SUCH a waste of your time. You can sit and think through every possible scenario if you want and cause a panic attack, but at the end of the day only God knows what is going to happen and he is in control of it all. We don't have to sit and overthink and feel enormous amounts of anxiety because he is the one writing your story and he only has good things planned for you.
- Relationships aren’t the end all be all. There is so much joy in being single and being in a relationship. There are positives to both sides but just because you’re single doesn’t mean that anything is missing in your life. Take this time to find yourself and your identity in God and pour into your friendships.
- Don’t ever let anyone make you feel bad for wanting to be successful. You know the dreams and passions that God has given you. Because he’s given you those dreams and the talents and passion to see them come true, go and make it happen. Serve God well by giving it your all and working hard for his glory. #girlboss
- Intentional time with the Lord is so important. To be able to go out and do all the amazing things we want to do we need to be filled up by the Lord. Don’t neglect time with him because you can feel the difference between when you’ve spent time with him and when you haven’t.
- ”Money comes and goes, but experiences don’t!!!” -Payten Orlow. She has a point y’all. Don’t be a reckless spender but go out and experience the world with your friends even if it costs a little bit of money because you can make it back.
- Being educated is so important and it's such a blessing to go to college. Even if you think that one really boring and annoying class is such a waste of time, it’s not. Learning will never hurt, it will only benefit you even if it's the most random class, the more you know the more educated you are and that is never a bad thing.
- Community is so important. Having a strong Christian community is so good for you and it will only help you grow and fill you up.
- Emotions don’t control your life. These are such a gift from God but they don’t control you. It’s good to have emotions and be aware of what you’re feeling but you can’t let your feelings always dictate your life. Use them as indicators to understand what is going on and how you may feel about a certain something but always go back to God's word and fact check your feelings with His word.
- Hard work will always pay off. #respectthehustle Although it may be tiring at times you have to remember the end goal and why you’re doing what you’re doing. Don’t lose sight of that and keep working hard.
- People may remember what you said or did, but they will always remember how you made them feel. So go out of your way to be kind to each person you meet and make them feel loved, heard, and appreciated.
- You're not everyone’s cup of tea and not everyone is yours either. There is nothing wrong with this, you don’t have to be everyone’s bff. What you do need to always do is make sure you are kind and respectful no matter how annoying that one person may be. And don’t be offended when someone doesn’t want to be your bff because that just means there is a different person out there to fill that role in your life.
- Be confident in who God made you. He made each one of us with unique personalities and talents. We are his handiwork and you can find all the confidence you could ever need in that statement right there. You are his child and you are so loved by him and he knitted you together. So be confident in that but don't be arrogant.
- Each one of us has a God-given purpose. God created and formed you with a specific plan and purpose for you. We can find peace in this and let go of so much stress. When you remember and have confidence in the fact that God is in control you can literally sit back and enjoy the ride. God loves each of us more than we can ever imagine and it's so amazing knowing that he created you for this specific time to do a specific thing and gave you specific talents and passions. He truly misses no details because his love for you is infinite.
